Hi to everyone  [15/1/2002 18:48:18]

I'm new to the site today - I'm an Operations Manager, who has recently formed my own limited company (Davis Consultants Ltd) offering Interim Management services, but unfortunately I haven't secured any contracts as yet (been very close a couple of times - unfortunately budgets have been removed on both occasions!!) - I'm now considering both Interim and Permanenet work anywhere in the UK or overseas, so if anyone knows of any vacancies, please let me know!

Hi to everyone - thanks John for sucha useful and informative site.

Hello all,

I was guided to this forum a couple of days ago (thanks Craig!) and have thoroughly enjoyed reading the posts.

It's the peak of summer here in New Zealand so it is light till about 9.30pm and is a time of backyard barbeques - a wonderful time all round.

Great to see the diversity of both geography and topics on this forum and I look forward to a lot more. As far as I could see I am the first one based in New Zealand (I am originally from India) - Are there any more Kiwi Call Centre people here?

bye for now
Vanessa

Location  [25/1/2002 15:40:24]

Hi everyone,

I'm based in the centre of Leeds, West Yorkshire. For those that are not familiar with the location, it's in the North of England. We've just set up a new inbound helpdesk to deal with business to business customers.

I've relocated from the South of England recently, so the area is very new to me but I'm finding my way around ok. Travelling into Leeds isn't much fun at the minute (particularly due to the recent train strikes) but I expect I'll get used to it.

Regards,
Alan

Where am I from???  [31/1/2002 21:34:31]

Hi,

I am located in Gurgaon, India - the emerging hub of Call centers in India (Convergys opened its call center out here)

I work as Marketing Manager in Parsec a Call Center Technology Company. The going is great with all the Call Centric activity centered around India.

I just discovered this sight and to sum it up, the information is amazing. The issues discussed, the membership everything is awesome. To me its like the holy grail for information on Call Centers.

A big Congrats to John and other CCV members.

This is the first day I scouted the site and already two of my long standing queries have been solved.

Do keep up the good work

Greetings!!  [11/2/2002 17:15:13]

Hi all. I've just discovered this site and the wealth of information it provides. One thing I have noticed is the large contributions from our friends in India - keep up the good work!

We are presently working on a business plan with a number of partners to set up a call centre in East Africa. There is an abundance of highly-skilled and motivated Africans (mostly with an third level education and often from a university in the UK) who, due to a local dearth of jobs, find it difficult to exploit their knowledge in the IT, customer care, banking, insurance and back-office sectors of the local market. We think that by setting up a call centre we will be giving these people a chance to join the global community and enhance both their own and their nation's intellectual and economic condition. By contributing high quality jobs to the local community we shall meet one of the main goals of the business plan, the rest will surely follow, and hopefully thanks to this great site!

We hope other members with an African interest can contribute hints to help us along on our way. Basically, we have the technical end covered and shall install a call centre of international standard. The most important aspects will be training the agents and attracting business from the UK, African and Middle-East markets.

All leads greatly appreciated. Thanks for such a fantastic forum!!

Aussie in INDIA  [12/2/2002 06:08:35]

CCV team this is a long over due and informative site. I am a veteran of 26 years in the Call/Contact Center business and have found Utopia for Call Center Managers here in India - high numbers of motivated employees.

It is correct all too often our industry is reported as one of the last resort industries, or one that you join for the interim or while backpacking around the world.

Here it is a sought after career! Let's change the image of the industry on a global basis our companies appreciate the need for the "Customer" center now we need to have the customer appreciate the value of having them at their disposal!

Committed. (Or "should be committed?)
Phil.

I'm from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada  [23/2/2002 15:25:43]

Greetings All ! ! ...from Dan , Tech Support, Minacs Worldwide from the Peterborough( Canada) call center. As the nature of our jobs dictates, most call center support techs/agents grow increasingly out-of-shape ( would i be out of place to say down-right obese or nearly atrophied ) due to the sedentary-ness of call center activity ( or lack thereof) . I am extremely interested in any inroads, ideas, innovations or stories from other call center folks who have tried to address these types of issues (for example - in-house exersize facilities, corporate discounts at local fitness centers, intra / extra corporate team activity) Also - I would LOVE to hear from anybody who has some statistics that relate to reduced absentee-ism and corporate health programs)
warm regards to all . . . dan

Hi all,

I trust this finds all of you well.
Like the site. It's great to get this information from the 'horses mouth' so to speak.

I work for Iontas Ltd developers of performance management solutions for contact centres. We are located on the Inishowen Peninsula almost entirely surrounded by sea and tapering towards Irelands most northerly point at Malin Head. It is a rugged and wild region of Mountains Lakes and Loughs.
When I'm not looking out the window admiring the view... Iaddress the challenges associated with employee productivity, monitoring and security for our European clients.

Have enjoyed going through the various topics. Keen to here more on topics such as: Workforce/Enterprise management, Internet usage policies, Internet & Email monitoring, Agent monitoring, PC ownership costs, Flexible working, Tele-working and of course contact centre performance.

Kind regards,
Kevin
