I'm helping put together a presentation and I'm looking for a few statistics to give the presentation some impact. I'd be really grateful if anyone knew (or knew where we could find) any of the following:

* How many seats are outsourced in the UK, over how many sites
* How much spare capacity is available in outsourced call centres

I'm also interested in the same information for the UK offshore market in India, although that's not so much of a priority for me.

It doesn't have to be 100% accurate, as long as it's roughly in the right area. No-one's going to building a business plan on the numbers.

A handy source for answering some of your questions is a DTI report published earlier this year. It's available to download at http://www.dti.gov.uk/ewt/contactind.pdf

For example the report indicates that at the end of 2003 there were 49,288 outsource/telemarketing agent positons across 398 centres in the UK.
